Brief:
The brief was to provide FPV Drone filming services to be used in a promotional video for The Elcano Challange. The Elcano Challenge is a sailing expedition across 42,000 miles and 4 continents. The aim of the promotional video was to raise awareness of the expedition and generate sponsors enabling them to complete the journey zero carbon, without fossil fuels.
Methodology:
The Elcano Challenge provided a challenging environment to capture unique footage of a sailing boat. We utilised good communication and teamworking skills to effectively manage and mitigate risks to people and property during operation of the drone. Taking off and landing from a small 2m x 3m section on the rear of the vessel was the only option to capture footage of the boat out at sea. We secured footage at specific milestones to mitigate risk and had backup equipment should any issues be encountered.
We worked closely with the captain, crew and other videographers to communicate requirements for specific shots, manoeuvres, take off’s and landings etc and successfully met the clients brief.
